I am trying to upgrade a HP Pavilion box with XP Home to XP pro. Durring the Remote System Compatability process, the following message appears,

The currently installed driver for the NVIDIA NForce device is not compatible with this version of Microsoft Windows. Setup will not be able to complete.

NVIDIA Filter

The details of this message says to update the driver.

When I attempted to update the driver, I discovered the installed driver is an Intel 82810E graphics Controler.

It looks like the driver is truly Nvidia but named as an Intel adapter. Updating the Intel driver did not solve the problem and I can't seem to find the Nvidia driver on the net which is a Nvidia Nforce graphics adapter.

Can someone please help?

This site contains the most up to date drivers for nforce. However if you are having a problem upgrading then uninstall the item in device manager. Then run the upgrade. Windows will default to the stadard display adapter. Once you have upgraded the system to XP pro you can then install the new drivers.

Thanks gpalmer711 for the quick response

I uninstalled the video driver but once I rebooted the driver was automatically installed. S o what I did was disabled the video driver and rebooted the system. This seem to boot fine with out the driver but unfortunatley the problem still exists. It says the following

Nvidia AGP Filter is not compatable.

Any other suggestions.

I could realy use them.

John

That is not the video driver that is the AGP driver or the chipset driver. What chipset does this board have? Go and get the latest one of those and install it.

Thanks guys for the suggestions.

I resolved the issue. The Nvidia Unified driver was not updating properly. It turned out the update would install the files on the root of C in the nvidia directory and not updating the nv_agp.sys file in C:\windows\system32\drivers.

Copying the the new version of nv_agp.sys file to the correct location fixed the problem.

Thanks again.
