Hi,

Sharp Laptop - XP Home and no original recovery CD available.
Was giving ntoskrnl missing on boot so I booted it using a Dell OEM XP Home CD into recovery console and ran Fixmbr and Fixboot.
Now gives blue screen on boot System_License_violation.

Any way round this without a re-install? - I can get hold of an XP Pro full version CD but not an XP Home one.

Regards
David

Hi Bcastner,

I don't think that is it - I don't even get to the F8 option when starting XP, just a BSOD with System_License_violation and hex code 0x0000009A

Contact Sharp.

You need to do Recovery Console again with the Sharp CD, and redo FIXBOOT and FIXMBR.

Hi,

Yep Bcastner, I've come to the same conclusion and Sharp are sending a recovery CD. They are not charging but say the CD can only be used for a re-install. Hopefully they are wrong and it will do a boot into the recovery console as well.

Thanks Linney - had a look through that lot but nothing helped.

Regard
David
