Im running a desktop computer at home with XP Home Edition, connected to an external cable modem. My virus def.'s are updated to most recent - 11AUG03

While running the W32.Blaster.Worm Fix Tool downloaded from Symantec's web site, I get the following Microsoft error message: "Fixtool for W32.Blaster.Worm has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience". It goes on to give me the option of sending an error report to Microsoft. I ran the fix tool after downloading the patch and with Windows XP system restore turned off. I also tried doing this in Safe Mode. Any idea why I am getting this message? Also, how can I tell if the patch if properly installed?

Sorry if this duplicates but I didnt see this exact issue in existing threads / forums.

Scratch that - it's all smoke and mirrors.
