Just got XP professional and now after I freshly formatted my HD I can install fine up until about it says "3 minutes remaming" From that point on all progress stops. The little text bulletins continue to flash on the right but the progress indicator stops. Is there anything I can do to help finish the installation process?

Assuming you have original media, and that the media isn't damaged, the first things to do are to see if there are bios updates for your PC. Most common lockup point is an outdated bios. Bios updates for your computer and the instructions for doing so are available from your PC's manufacturer, or from the manufacturer of the motherboard in your PC in the event that it's a clone.

Barring that, start looking at your hardware. Is any of it extremely new, non-standard stuff? How about USB? If you've got USB devices, unplug them until you're done with the initial install, then plug them in and install them once the system is up and running.
