SPECS: XP Pro SP1, ECS K7S5A Pro, AMD 2400+, Kingston 512MB DDR PC2700, Pandex MX440-8x 128MB, 80GB Maxtor Diamond Max 9.

this configuration was running normal for 2 months and just started freezing up. Trouble shot that the memory was bad, exchanged it. Ran normal for 2 more months started freezing again, and wouldn’t start up even starting up in safe mode. Replaced IDE cable started working normal. Now it is doing it again does anyone know what the problem could be? I do have suspicions that the board is bad but when I test it my self and get it tested it comes out fine. What could it be?

Thanks to all who will help!

Search Google for a "Burn In" program. There are a few free ones out there. Have you overclocked anything? I have the same board with XP2200 and PC2100, and I can't change any speed or memory settings without screwing it up. I have a feeling that when you "fix" something, you are moving other things around which actually solves the problem. Try re-seating all boards and plugs. What is your CPU temperature? It may be running on the "edge" and sometimes goes too high and stops. I've heard that the XP2400 runs hotter than others.
