Does XP come with a default inbuilt firewall. I dont mean the one you can use with IE. I mean an independent firewall that monitors all the port, etc like a regular firewall.
If there is one like this how do I set it up.
Please advise.
Thanks.
The Windows XP built in firewall is good at hiding your machine from others on the internet, but will not attempt to authenticate requests out from software on your PC, so will not protect against already installed keyloggers contacting home, for example.
However, a lot of the modern software firewalls (eg Kerio, ZoneAlarm, Outpost) do this, which does make the XP built in firewall seem very weak in comparison.
