Recently, on a Windows XP Pro SP1a computer a user on our network encountered the following error when clicking a search button after logging onto a website we use for research:
A runtime error has occurred.
Do you wish to Debug?

Line: 346
Error: <item> is null or is not an object.

My websearches have told me that this is an error message associated with Java.

The same website has been used by a number of people in the office without this problem.
The only difference I can see between this computer and other XP Pro's in the office is the fact that this computer has "Service Pack 1a" while the others have "Service pack 1". Service Pack 1a does not include the Microsoft Java Virtual Machine, according to Is this likely to be the reason for the error message above? If so what is the solution? Should I remove Sp1a and install sp1?
Thanks for any help.

If you click 'No' (you don't want to debug) does the page continue to load?
