XP - Doesn't remember credentials to mapped drive

I have a pc running Windows XP w/SP2. I mapped a drive from another Windows XP SP/2 machine. Each time I log in, when I go to the mapped drive it asks for a password, although it remembers the username I used when mapping the drive. Looking for the most common reasons as to why Windows does not retain the log in credentials to this mapped drive.
