One of my employees here is having problems with accessing files while connected to our network. He has a Dell Inspiron 600m laptop with Centrino setup so there's wireless involved. Here's the email they sent on it:
"When connected to the network a 32 Kb jpg file on my local C drive takes 42 seconds when launched from windows explorer. It takes only 3 seconds if I am not logged on to the work network. When connected to the network a 58 Kb Word file on my local C drive takes 22 seconds when launched from windows explorer or when called up directly from Word. It takes only 7 seconds if I am not logged on to the work network. When connected to the network a 29 Kb pdf file on my local C drive takes 15 seconds when launched from windows explorer. It takes 14 seconds if I am not logged on to the work network. Not much difference here. After printing a word doc, the next time I access Word and call up the 58 Kb word doc on my local C drive I get the following: “The printer has not yet responded but the Microsoft Office program may be able to proceed without printer information. Do you want to continue to wait for the printer? Yes/no” it takes 13 seconds to get to this message and I select yes to wait for the printer. Then it takes another 22 seconds for the file to come up.
My default printer is: HP LaserJet 5100 Process on servername.domainname.local (driver has been reinstalled twice). When I make HP LaserJet 4V on servername (front office) my default printer files come up in 1 second and no problems printing."
Anyone have any ideas?
