Hi All,
We have a web manager running XP in the office and in order to bypass certain services we have use external dns settings so he can upload to the webiste by ftp and use different web access etc. But obviously we need to use internal dns's for authentication etc.
We have set a static ip for the IP,subnet and gateway. But the DNS is external. This isnt a problem on logging on, finds the DC and is fine for a few hours. Yet after that time it will just drop his auth details and any share that requires authentication prompts for the details again.
Is there anyway around this ? we need to set the system someway to work throught a list of the 4 dns servers for all queries so it finds the right one. Ive tried putting it in DNS list - all four - but its the same... any ideas?
