I recieved a memory error on shutdown and clicked cancel accidently...causing a checksum error on some files...I am trying to replace these files manually (xp preloaded no OS disk)
Is it possible to make a boot disk for xp (floppy or cd) to give me root access to disk? Recovery console only allows access to C:\windows\*.
I have tried using
ntldr
ntdetect.com
boot.ini
boot.ini consists of this
[boot loader]
timeout=30
Default= multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\windows
[operating systems]
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\windows="Windows XP"
on a floppy and seems to work to an extent...hal.dll is corrupt...Tried win98 boot disk but doesn't read NTFS drive. any advise?
Sorry for the long post
Thanks
E
