Hi,

am setting up a new laptop for a user. now I am locking it down to a certain extent. The only thing I want users to be able to use the internet for is to connect to work via a vpn. Now i have installed and configured the cisco vpn client. The users all have different ISPs which they use at home. now I will let the user take the laptop and configure it for internet access. One thing i want to know is that if they have internet can it be configured to only let them access the vpn client to connect to work and not be able to "surf the net

if you use a proxy you can set the ie setting then they can only go out via your servers and no other but other apps will be able to get out.
you can try a gpo to set the ie and connection setting to your vpn tunnel and proxy server only.
you can also try the local gateways to be set on your network only this will stop them form getting out to the internet unless the vpn is established so using a router for this might be the case not to sure about that not tried it.
but i use a proxy in IE with a funny port and then disable the user to change the setting. i auto run the VPN if a connection is established to the internet (a little app i made in vb6) then they just put in password and go out to internet via my network

hope this helps

this works although would this stop internet viruses getting on the sys? I have anti-virus software in plazce and was just wondering
