XP accessing shares takes too long. 1

I have found a solution to the lengthy time it may take to access a SAMBA share from an XP machine:

01. Go to run and type: services.msc
02. Locate the WebClient servive and deaktivate it.
03. Reboot

In my situation, the contents were displayed instantly in comparison to the 7 minutes I previously had to wait.

Something I've found is turning off the auto sensing of shared folders/printers (funny, just mentioned this in a different post). Open Explorer, its in Tools>Options.
