I have an Athlon XP 1800 with an ECS K7S5A board and have been running it sucessfully for quite a while, until....

I rescently added a new sound card to the mix and when I powered on my sys it wouldnt boot up..... nothing on the screen and it appeared as if it was tryin over and over again to start up. Then I cleared the BIOS mem and restarted and it started right up but only because the processor speed was set at 100/100. When I tried to put it back at 133/133 it does the same thing and I have to clear the CMOS again..... I even took the sound card out and still does the same thing... PLEASE HELP... my processor is running way slow and I dont know what to do.....

Oh dear! I have just had a nightmare with one of these boards in my sister-inlaws, it kept reporting windows protection errors on boot! after 6 long weeks of problems and changing just about everything in the system it was finally cured by replacing the board for a revision 3.1 version.
After it was changed the shop owner conceeded that there had been some problems with the first release, in his words "I would by one now, but some early ones just didn't like certain setups" One thing that I never did was to flash the bios and I know there have been several upgrades.
Also they can be very picky on memory.
By the way this one would work fine on the lower settings like yours! 100/100 or 133/100 but not 133/133 as it should be set.
This one had a 1.2DDR Athlon and not an XP.
Did you flash your bios to get it to post as a 1800+ ?
Because as I understand it that is what you have to do.
Also as you no dought are aware! extra case cooling is a must! to get it to run in the low 50's without it you will get unstable 60+C Martin Vote if you found this post helpful please!!

Sorry forgot to mention my early version had a small sticker on it saying 4* the newer version said 3.1 next to the last PCI slot corner of the board. Martin Vote if you found this post helpful please!!
