It appears that Dreamweaver is attempting to rewrite code in my XML document. The problem is fixed if the XML document is not well-formed because Dreamweaver stops whatever it is doing if the XML is not valid. -- Is there any REAL way to prevent Dreamweaver from parsing any code in my XML other than this?
I already have code-rewriting disabled for the .xml extension, and that does not fix the problem. There seems to be some invisible characters in the code that causes Dreamweaver to parse the file. I am using UTF-8 encoding but the entire document does not appear to be UTF-8 because of this problem.
For example, if I convert the file to UTF-8 in Microsoft Word as Plain Text, the problem also goes away. I just want to figure out why Dreamweaver has a problem with the code, it should not even touch any of it. It is still a valid XML document in any case, completely viewable in IE (until of course DW attempts to rewrite).
