Hi,
I am trying to add an XM24 module to a 6416 phone on an S8300 Rel 3.1 and it doesn't work. It came with 1151C power supply. I am using a straight thru 8 pin cable from the power supply to the phone, the standard line cord is plugged in the line jack on the power supply and the six conductor cord connects XM24 to XM 24 jack on a phone.

In the system software on page 1 expansion module is set to yes, and I programmed a couple of features such as date-time and headset on the XM24, but nothing works.

I tried different phones, even tried it on our old Definity G3, but still can't get it to work.

Is there any way to test this module? I realise it can be defective, but I don't have another one to verify that for sure and getting this module back is my last resort.

Thanks

You should be using an 8 pin cord from phone to the power supply. I encountered this problem a long time ago and realized you need the 8 pin cord to supply power to the unit. I thin Avaya send out the 2 pin RJ11 cords now.

They shipped the XM24 with the 8 pin straight cord, 1151C1 power supply, but didn't send me the D6AP cord (six conductor from the phone to XM), I had one so I think I have all the cables. When I connect XM24 to the phone it flashes, the phone works but the XM doesn't.

You need to use 8 conductor cords on all the connections. Especially for the power supply to the phone the last pair provides power..

Interesting, I just hooked up exactly what you have and it works fine..I even used two different power supplies. I am wondering if there another setting somewhere..

i know this might sound silly but is the phone programmed as a 6416+ and is the phone marked as 6416D+M??

I am sure it is a defective XM24. I just sent it back.
Thanks for your help

Another thought the power supply I am using is an 1151B1 if that may make a difference..
