XL So SLow?

I have a customer running windows 98, about 3 years old. He had never defragged his hardrive, emptied his temp folder or anything. he complained his xl spreadsheets were slow. so i ran mcAfee clean up on his system and disk keeper on his hard drive. now it runs as good as they day he bought it. except.... XL is still slow opening and closing. its not a large file, 300k, there are no links on startup or seriuos calculations going on. what else is there?

I am surprised that a 3 yr old can use Excel.

There are probably a lot of add-ins that Excel is opening and closing.

Journalling in Outlook is enabled.

add ins. sweet. that's what i was thinking.
hadnt considered journalling though, cheers.
and he isnt 3 he's like.... 53 or something.
