I have a Network stored .xls file that opens fine on all bar 1 machine (File is 1.8Mb - 15 worksheets, many cross-linked, no external links). All I get is Eggtimer then, when I check Task Manager, I get Excel is not responding.

Any (every) other XL file seems to open fine on this same box (opened a 9Mb file no problem) but this one file is starting to annoy me...

The PCs memory resource is fine (just increased it). Everything else works fine.

Any ideas before I trash the Workbook and rewrite it for the users?

Hello Jonsi - 1st option - don't re-write - just copy all the workSHEETS into a new workBOOK - it is often the container that is corrupted rather than the sheets or data themselves

Just select 1st sheet
Hold Shift
Select End Sheet

right click on 1 of the tabs

Choose Move/Copy

choose Copy and "New Workbook"

save new file and see if it opens

If you have XL 2002 or later then try the 'Open and Repair' option. From File / Open, on the resulting dialog box bottom right you will see a drop down arrow on the 'Open' button - Click and choose 'Open and Repair'.

Worth a shot first anyway.
