Hi there,

My Citrix Metaframe xpa fr3 running on w2k3 server, no local printer created, only installed printer drivers.

From w98 pc use webclient to access citrix server, printer auto-created & driver correctly mapped. However some of the printer features not available, such as 2-side printing, the option is dimmed, not selectable. However from local w98 pc printer object properties, that option is selectable.

I checked Xerox website, no more latest drivers available, mine PCL6 already the latest. Is there any tricks to make the 2-side printing works?

Thanks so much for your help!!

I have had this problem with a few duplex capable printers. Question, when the user initiates an autocreated printer session can you modify their settings then? I have had to go to their session and enable duplex. Now the caveat here is the fact that the user is a Win98 client. Have you tried connecting to the Citrix server and to that printer using a Win2K/XP client?

It's the same for w2k/wxp client, also can't print duplex.

Can you teach me how to goto their session & enable duplex?
How can I check if I can modify the autocreated printer settings?

Many thanks!!

Have the user connect to the Citrix server, once they have logged on, a printer session will have been created for them. Logon yourself and go to the printers applet in control panel. From their you should be able to see the client's printer session. Right click on it, select properties and from there try to see if you can add the duplex option. If you are still unable to change the setting, I would recommend installing the actual driver on the Citrix server. From there should be able to change the appropriate setting

Thanks itsp1965!

As per your instruction, it works! I enabled the duplex option at server side when the user login to citrix.
After the user logout & re-login to citrix, the duplex option was still enabled, thanks so much!

But now I got another question: actually I got 2 citrix servers for load balance purpose, which means for each user I need to do the same task twice! Is there any tricks to do it once & for all?

FYI, my citrix servers already installed corresponding w2k3 printer driver but not create the printer object in w2k3.

Thanks again for your great helping hands!

No prob zacca. I don't know whether the setting would replicate across to the other server, but I think it should. You may want to try it as an experiment. Otherwise I don't know if it can be done any other way.
