What versions of XC SW can be used to expand the MICS cabinet to allow for two 6 port fiber cards?

I want to say that 3.0 was the first release to support
the mega systems.

I was just looking around the web and I saw 1.1XC when I did a Google search. How about DR5 or R1T1?

For cost I am looking at 4.1XC I have heard good things about that release as far as bugs are concerned. What do you think?

Going to expand a MICS for a total of 128 digital exts., 16 POTS lines and a 10 channel NAM 4.1

So I am looking at the following config:
(1) MICS Cabinet SW 4.1XC
(2) 6 port fiber cards
(2) DS cards in the MICS
(1) 0x12 with (2) DS cards
(6) 0x16 Mods
(1) NAM 4.1

How does that look to you?

That should work. You'll have 2 expansion ports left to use as R4.1 XC reserves the last 2 ports (13 & 14) for the discontinued Companion sets. You'll need R7.0 or higher if you think you might need those last 2 ports for future expansion. Trunk mods must stay on the first 6-port expansion card.

I expect no further expansion of this site in fact they may even drop a few of the pots lines down if traffic does not justify the use of all 16. They are on a tight budget.

I have been able to find SW from 1.1 up to 5.0 the price varies a lot. For example 2.0XC and 4.0XC is around $77.00 and then 5.0XC is around 370.00.

There will be no CID used at this site and only 1 16 line hunt group.

Someone had mentioned that the advantage of using a higher version is that the time and date change issue has been resolved and is now automatic. Any other important issues that a higher version would resolve?

BTW I am going to use a NAM will the higher versions support a NAM?

You can install a NAM on 7.1, make sure it's latest release of 4.1.

As exmogger states:
R4.0 was very buggy, R4.1 was hit or miss, R5.0 was just plain bad. R6.1 MR is very stable, or R7.1 is also good and adds the new DST schedule.

Can I use a NAM 4.1 and (2) 6 port fiber cards with 7.1XC?

Are you referring to "XC" SW:

As exmogger states:
R4.0 was very buggy, R4.1 was hit or miss, R5.0 was just plain bad. R6.1 MR is very stable, or R7.1 is also good and adds the new DST schedule.

Thank you. So XC is the same SW just lets you expand the cabinet to allow the second fiber card?

On the matrix it shows under 7.1 XC:
4.1/6.0

On the matrix it shows under 7.1:
4.1/5.0

Notes are to make sure NAM is all upgraded to latest including applications before upgrading KSU.

FWIW, I'm running a 4.1 NAM on 7.1XC software, with no problems.
