Dear All,

I have a Gigabyte PIII motherboard that detects new hardware, namely PCI System Management Bus. I don't have drivers for it and they're not on the CD that came with the board (at least I think not anyway). Have fudged the install and it's now active as Unknown Device, doesn't seem to be causing me any problems, it's just niggling me seeing it sat there.

Any ideas where I can download the drivers for this?

Kind regards,

John

The PCI System Management Bus is a part of motherboard but the motherboard's chipset drivers have to be on the CD. Are you have all drivers installed?

To visit Gigabyte website and find out latest drivers you can go to - the primary Gigabyte website.

Thanks for the response TyrantSSV. In answer to your query, I ran the chipset install once the board was in and it made no diff. Still auto-detects. Have had a quick scout around the net and this seems like a fairly common problem, will explore the CD and see if there are any readme files or if there's something I've missed/neglected to do.

Kind regards,

John

On some chipsets there is a patch utility that is designed to make windows be able to recognize the hardware that you have. This is quite common for Intel Chipsets. It is quite possible that Windows sees something as something other than what it is. I have never seen this particular message. Usually after you apply the update or the patch, windows will be able to see your hardware. Often there are additional Hard Drive ATA 100/133 drivers you need on this disk to make your Hard Drive run at its top speed. If you do not like my post feel free to point out your opinion or my errors.

TRY TO:
1)"CLEAR-CMOS"
2)CHECK YOUR BIOS SETTINGS (ACPI->"Enable", PNP OS->"YES", RESOURCES CONTROLLED BY->"AUTO" ...)
3)UPDATE YOUR BIOS
4)INSTALL THE LATEST CHIPSET DRIVERS
5)VISIT " FOR PATCHES/FAQs R.T.F.M.
