wsus connection error

my wsus server is giving me a error of
"Error connecting to the Windows Server Update Services database
There was an error connecting to the Windows Server Update Services database. Either the database is not available or you do not have the correct privileges to access the database.

If you believe you have received this message in error, please check with your system administrator."

i don't think i changed any thing
looking at my service on the server and i see a SQLAgent$WSUS is set to manual thinking this might be the problem i went to start it and get Could not start the SQLAgent$WSUS service on the Local Computer Error1068: the Dependency service or group failed to start
also tried starting the MSSQL$WSUS tells me that it started and stopped

Check the owner of the SQL instance. Is it Windows Auth or SQL Auth. What account are the services running under?

This certainly sounds to me like an authentication issue. Check all things related to authentication and attempt to restart the services again.
