Let me explain the setup first.
Currently, we have WS_FTP Pro client running on a machine (running XP Pro) and the WS_FTP Server (Windows 2000 server). Data comes in through a modem and is stored in a file on the same machine running the ftp client (this is application specific data and has to come in through a modem). We run a scheduled synchronization every minute that compares the FTP client with the FTP server. Under the
right conditions, the file is pushed from the client to the server and then deleted from the client.
Where we are having a problem:
If the data is coming in from the modem at exactly the same time of the synching process, the synch fails and the FTP client puts up a dialog box asking if synching should be continued. The scheduled synching is
paused until either "yes or no" is selected - obviously, we can't have someone sitting around watching the client but if it goes unnoticed then the data is not being transferred (very bad Frown ).
We've been using the synchronization set up and scheduling through the WS_FTP Pro GUI and there's not a lot of flexibility. We did try it with the "-quiet" option. It suppresses message but still seems to pause the process.
I have found that this problem does not occur on the test machine (running Windows 2000 server) but it is not clear WHY - is it the OS?
Is it the machine itself?
So - we'd like to see if there are other options. Is there a decent command line synching application or directory replication or another FTP application that is more robust that has a synching feature? Something that Microsoft itself provides ?
Writing our own script may also be an option, but would best like to avoid it.
Kindly advice asap. What would be the best way. Would gretaly appreciate all your help and suggestions.
Thanks much.
