wrong type error

Sometimes I get a wrong type message in usage for tiffs...says I need a Xtension (180)...any help would be appreciated

From what application(s)? The word "Xtension" leads me to thing of Xpress.

Using OSX 10.3.9 on a G4

Sorry, but we don't use Quark much anymore (Indesign). Try saving the pic as eps and using that. That usually works in Xpress.
