Write Conflict Error when editing a linked record 1

I have just upgrade to MS Office XP. I have a database that contains tables linked through ODBC to SQL tables.
When I try to edit the records I get the following error message:

Write Conflict
This record has been changed by another user since you started editing it. If you save the record, you will overwrite the changed the other user made...

It will not allow me to save the changes, I can only cancel or copy to the clip board.

Is there any way around this?
