Hi,

I have an Access front end, linked to a MySQL Backend.
Tables are linked through ODBC
The MySQL Data was converted from MS Access to MySQL

Seems that certain records in certain tables give me a Jet 'Write Conflict' error, another user has already changed the same data.

This error only happens on certain records, not all records.
I am the only user, opening a test MySQL database on my development PC.

So, I created a blank MS Access file, and linked one of the tables in question.

I then just opened the table in question.
I can add, change delete most records just fine.

But, there are a few records I can not edit or delete.
Note: The records in question seem to have good data in all the fields.

For these few records, I get this same error. (Weird)

Anybody have any idea why? I am frustrated!!! I am in the middle of a large conversion and this little issue has me stumped.

Thanks,
Hap...

Does access recognize the MySQL PrimaryKey ?

Hope This Helps, PH.

Hi,

Yes, it does. I made sure to have all Primary Keys in the original Access Database properly defined.

No Problem with the ODBC Link.

The table in question has over 50,000 records. I can access all the records just fine. I can add records and I can delete most records,

the problem is, there are certain records in the table that if I change or delete, I get this conflict error.

Yet, I can copy the entire record, past it as a new record, change the primary key value and it saves just fine. The Primary Key is an AutoNumber type field.

Since it is MS Access Frontend and MySQL backend, I do not even know which vendor to ask help from.

With all the other work, converting from Access to SQL backend, the last thing I need is to have a simple 'Write Conflict' issue.

I have done this same thing before, with the same software frontend, using MS SQL and had no problems, but my client wants to go the MySQL route and the customer is always right.

Any ideas?

Thanks,
Hap...
