WOWEXEC hang upon setting up software

Has anyone ever encountered this?

I try to run an install, but the install does not work (nothing happens, nothing shows up). I look into task manager in the list of processes and see NTVDM.exe and wowexec.exe there.

How do you solve this? I did a web search and didn't come up with any particular conclusive solution.

Figured this one out myself. The firewall I was running (recently updated, no doubt), did something (somehow) to make it unstable.

(I keep finding these hard problems to debug)
