It used to be that I could just stick a dvd-ram disc in my drive and use windows explorer to drop & drag files to the disc and they would be immediately written. But now with a new installation of WinXP, I cannot get this functionality back, which seemed so effortless to do before.

Am I missing something?

Actually I found the solution, disabling Microsoft's built-in cd burning capabilities.

I was just thinking because I remember a long time ago with my first dvd-ram/dvd-r drive, when installed actually appeared to Windows as 2 separate drives, one drive letter used for normal cds & dvds, and the other for just dvd-ram discs. This newer drive is obviously different with the single drive letter, though same manufacturer.
