I've created a program with Access 2000.
I quess I'm doing something wrong because I have a strange fenomen:
* all my clients that are working under Win98 - if they do a lot of operations, at some point the computer announces that there's not enough memory and the only way out of it is Restart.
* all other clients (using Win2000/XP) have no problems of this kind

I know that Win98 doesn't know how to manage the memory properly, but I think I'm to blame also. I just don't know what am I doing wrong. What should I do or what I shouldn't do to overcome this problem?

Any ideas?
Thanks in advance

You are right on Win98 memory management. When I first started using Access 2000 a couple of years ago, I had a similar problem. I had converted an app from Access 97 and for some reason it kept holding all the vba code in memory. The only way I could free it up was to export all my objects into a new Access 2000 program - not too difficult. You can check to see if this is happening by going into some vba code and then looking under windows to see if is holding vba subs and functions.

Thanks for your reply.
The reality is that I distribute my program to different clients which are working with the program constantly. I think that there're more than 20 people already working with it and the number of clients is growing. I don't think that exporting the application each time is practical solution in my case.
But, thanks any way.
If I could find some way to free up the memory using VBA code, maybe I could put some timer in my program that would call a sub which will clean the memory each 15-20 minutes. But I have no idea how can I do that.

I have the exact same problem. I have a work project I brougght home to fix up and Access 2000 constantly crashed on me saying out of memory. But when i check the status of my memory with a 3rd party util, I still have plenty left.

I found a few links at that may be of assistance in this. For some reason the links got cut off, you'll have to copy and paste them into your web browser.

One more question - if I'll transfer my application to Office XP, would it solve all those problems existing in Access 2000?
