Working in Excel then open word = Reboot

A user is reporting that whenever they are using workbooks in excel and then try going into Word for an associated file the system will reboot. I ran office repair and also SFC. When i tried replicating the problem it didn't happen.

What could possibly cause this to happen?

I know faulty RAM sometimes causes random reboots but it seems specific to Office apps only.
