I'm trying to install properly W2000Server (5 users) in our small office. We are only 5 users with a dial up connection to the internet. Our needs are basic (drive & printer sharing, and if possible, modem sharing). The reason I'm installing W2000Server is a multi-user app that requires it.
My question is: How can I install the very basic form of W2000Server (no domains, no IIS)? How can I use a workgroup instead of a domain?

I'll appreciate your help.

Install Windows 2000 server. Create the userids needed for you users. Create the share and stuff on the server.

If you are not using Switches or routers (another words, your all on the same segment or your just using a HUB to connect everybody), it isn't necessary to install any network services.

- Just make sure all machines belong to WORKGROUP.
- You can configure each client to use DHCP if you want to (win98, ME, 2K clients have the ability to give themselves an IP address.) or just make sure all IP addresses are on the same segment. Joseph L. Poandl
