Hello, In reference to thread thread779-1298830 . I have found one, of many, solutions. Scenario: Win XP pro, Norton Internet Security 2007. In "My Network places" I would receive an eror when I clicked on "View network Computers". I un-installed Norton for a number of reasons, used the Norton removal tool and all that. I went to the windows help and used the troubleshooter.-No Good. So, in windows Help and Support I searched for Win Xp Firewall, It asked if I wanted to change the settings fir win xp firewall, I clicked on Yes and it gave me a message that said, "Windows firewall service is not running, do you want to start the firewall service and ICS/something. I know ICS means Internet Con. Sharing. I clicked on Yes and the workgroup immediately became avail;able. So then I checked to make sure that the windows firewall was turned off, and it was. I can only conclude that in order for the network neighborhood, to use old lingo, to be available there is a firewall Service that must be running even though the firewall is actually turned off. It must have something to do with the master browser service and all that, but I need some time to research and test. However, in conclusion, it's definetly a services not running problem.
