WordPerfect 6.1 Initialization Error on XP Pro

I just installed an XP Pro Workstation for a client of mine at a hospital. She is a "flag waving" WordPerfect 6.1 user.

When they installed this software and tried to access it, the keep getting the message "Initialization Error" when they click the icon. I went by.

I tried changing the compatibility, and it still responds with the same message. I even tried to sell the Office XP Pro, that didn't work.

I guess my real question is, will WordPerfect 6.1 work on XP Pro? And if so, how do I make it happen?

I think that it will probably not work. I believe that wp9 with the last patch (4?) is the earliers version of wp to work with winxp.

Winxp only loads Lotus Smartsuite 9.8 and above.

One thing that you can try, rename the wpset.bif and standard.wpt files and then start wp61.
