A strange thing keeps (occasionally) with Microsoft Word XP...

An example:

[ul]
[li]User opens Word[/li]
[li]then opens a Word Document[/li]
[li]Goes to File, Print and clicks ok.[/li]
[li]every letter on some -not all- lines move to the far left and on top of each other.[/li]
[li]To imagine this, make 5 text boxes, each with a letter from the word "hello" in it. Now place all the text boxes on top of each other... You can see the letters...[/li]
[li]If you change the font or clear the formatting, it's all fine. but then as soon as you go back to Arial + Bold, it doesn't like it![/li]
[/ul]
Any suggestions or has anyone seen this issue before?

Thanks,

Aubs

It sounds very similar to the Excel issue that occurred when they rolled out SP3 in that once you hit File / Print or Print Preview, all objects shot to the left of the screen and sat on top of each other. The only way to clear it was to close the document without saving. Not sure if it is related but it sure sounds similar. I'll give you the link to the fix for Excel and maybe it is of use in some way:-

Excel related:-
Controls move to the left of the worksheet in Microsoft Excel 2002
This problem occurs after you install Microsoft Office 2002 Service Pack 3 (SP3). This problem does not occur in Office 2002 versions that are earlier than SP3. For a fix see the following Microsoft article.

Great, thanks for that Ken, will look into it.

Much appreciated

Found similar entries in Google that would have been well before the SP. Still struggling to find a solution though:-

Hi Littl1,

I can think of two possibilities

1) Graphics or video driver

2) Corruption in the document. Try copying the text - without any section
breaks and without the last paragraph mark - to a new document. See if
things settle down?

Well, it's strange...

It has happened to 2 different Dell PC's in the office...

The PC that it happened to earlier today, that prompted me to look into it has had it happen before.

I checked the software versions and it's OfficeXP SP3. I have downloaded a couple of small updates via OfficeUpdate, and will se eif that helps...

It seems to have stoped again now, although this may be because I closed Word and re-opened it...

Thanks again for the help you have provided, please don't go out of your way for me ;).
