The INSERT, AUTOTEXT feature works fine (many autotext entries are available to insert) when using it to insert something into the main part of a document. But if I select VIEW, HEADER AND FOOTER, and then select the INSERT, AUTOTEXT, there are no entries to input. So the autotext feature works fine in the main part of the document, but doesn't work in the header/footer. Anyone else experiencing this??

Thanks

Actually, when you hit View-Header and Footer, there's already an autotext button/list on the Header/Footer toolbar that appears.

How does that work for you?

I'm surprised to hear that you aren't getting them the other way, tho. You probably just need to troubleshoot Word:

Yes, the autotext button does appear, but when I click on it, it still is blank (no entries). But if I close the Header/Footer then the Autotext has entries available to select from.

I have exactly the same problem with a user running Office2000 / Word.

The user opens a Word document and when they click:

View
>Header and Footer
>Insert Auto Text

There are no autotext entries. I have read the link to the officeexperts and if I am not mistaken you suggest that simply deleting/renaming the normal.dot should resolve this problem. If so I will be a very happy man and so will the user. I have tried all sorts including trying to re-add entries.

The one and only thing that I will say is that when the user clicks

Insert auto text

they can see one entry called Spike. Reading around I see that Spike does infact mean/do something. I will however delete normal.dot and see what happens. I have tried to uninstall and reinstall Office but as you say this does not affect Normal.dot.

Fingers crossed :)

Cheers
