Word Virus or "Feature"?

If I highlight a field in Word 2002 SP2,like a page number or bookmark, it automatically hits the ALT key, so the File menu is highlighted. For a keyboard junkie, this means I must either hitting ALT twice or use the mouse each time I try to cut & paste.

I have the company Symantec anit-virus w/ definition from 8/1 and cannot find anything. I have reinstalled and Office and doesn't help. It doesn't occur for anyone else in the company. I do have a myriad of other software (Visio, Adobe writer, SQL enterprise)on my box; any interdependancies I can look for?
