We are running Windows XP, with Office 2003 SBE. We have 3 machines running this software, all locally installed.

Everything is fine except on one machine.

On the machine in question, if I open Word, and then go file->open, the document opens instantaniously.

If I double click on the document to open it, it takes upto a minute to open the document.

Word opens in no time, if opened without a document, and it does not matter if I have another copy of word running or not.

Anyone have any ideas why this is happening????

Cheers,

Andy

AndrewTait,

Word is local, is the file that you are accessing local also or on the server?

Cheers,

Andy

I would start by checking the file associations for a word doc.

Also does this happen with say an excel file also or just word?

Hi Andy,

Try re-registering Word ...

Start > Run
Enter winword /r
Click OK

Enjoy,
Tony

FYI,

I suspect that I was looking in the wrong place. Before I got chance to try this the hard drive went awol, and after replacing and re-installing this is now working fine.

Thanks for your help. I shall make a note of this for future reference though!
