word section number page number

I have a document with multiple section breaks. I would like the page footer to read 2.1 for the first page of section 2, etc., resetting page number to 1 at the start of each section. How???

As long as you have the section breaks in your document, you can insert such a footer by using field codes. In the footer, go to Insert, Field, and select "Section". Type a period, then go to Insert, Field, and select "Page". On your header/footer toolbar, make sure that under "Page Number Format", you select "Page Numbering - start at 1".
