Word Numbering Problem

In MS Word, I have a form that was computer generated and it has a numbered list (each paragraph is numbered) and they are numbered in a strange sequence with some paragraphs not in numerical sequence from top to bottom.

When I copy and paste this information into another application it pastes it in the order that the paragrahps are numbered and not how they appear on the page.

I want them to paste as they appear on the page.

I think the solution is to re-index the numbers. I can't find a way to do this? Does anyone know of a work around or solution?

Thanks

These are the steps to reset the numbering...

Highlight your text, right click and choose Bullets and Numbering. Go to the Numbered tab, choose None and click ok. This will reset all of the numbering. Highlight your text again and go back into Bullets and Numbering and resetup the numbering.

If you have paragraphs that are not numbered between paragraphs that are, set the numbering to None on these paragraphs and use the radio buttons Restart Numbering (to start numbering at 1 again) and Continue Previous List (to continue where the numbering left off) on the following paragraph.

The Customize button has lots of options too.

Hope this helps!

Thanks, that is the first thing I tried and it would not reset the numbers. I guess it could be some kind of weird format they are generating.

The file come over the network as a rich text format if that matters.

Thanks for your help

I discovered what may be the problem. Now if someone can find a solution.

When the document opens, it opens in Print Layout view. That is how it needs to look when copied and pasted into a new document in Normal view.

If I switch it to Normal view, the paragraphs that are in the correct order in Print Layout view are changed to the numbered order which is incorrect.

How can I freeze them when switching modes?

Thanks
