Word: Multiple docs in one instance of Word (I wish)

Hi, can anyone suggest why when running Office2000 on WinXP Word insists on opening another instance of Word with each additional document tha is opened? As opposed to opening just one instance of Word with the currently opened document appearing under the 'Window' menu?

I can't find any option anywhere to control this behaviour.

Any suggestions please?

That's the way word 2000 (Office 2000) works.

Go back to Office 97 if you want an MDI.

I tried to impress not to 'upgrade' for the sake of it but they didn't want to listen!
