I have a word document that is mail-merged with an excel file - the fields that are from excel are larger than the font in the letter - I have tried to change the font of the fields but when I move to another record, it goes back to being larger.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!

Thanks!

Fred

Try this:

ALT+F9 to display codes.
Select the M (the first character in MERGEFIELD) and format it.

That might do it.

that did not work -stayed the same -

thanks!!

Fred

THen you might try the following, if no luck, please give more info - did you create the document? What versions Word, Excel? What is unusual about this doc?

Format the M, and at the end of the merge field, but withing the >>'s, type \*CharFormat

(backslash asterisk charformat)

Hi Fred,

Usually, simply selecting the MERGEFIELD and applying your formatting to it should do. If not:
. press ALT+F9 to display the field code, which should look something like {MERGEFIELD MyData}
. select the 'M' in 'MERGEFIELD' and format it with whatever formatting you need
. delete the '\* MergeFormat' switch if there is one
. add a ' \* CharFormat' switch to the end of the field, so that it looks like {MERGEFIELD MyData \* CharFormat}
. press F9 to update
. run your merge

Cheers
