I use the word drawing feature for little things like putting a red line to designate work on a work order. On my computer I do not have much precision when moving the lines around weather I am using the mouse or the keyboard. But on someone elses computer I have alot of precision. What would effect that? Or even better how do I change it.

This is word 2k running on windows 2k.

Thanks in advance,
Nathan

1. Have you tried fine tuning your mouse settings?
2. On the other computers are you using a higher resolution?
3. On the other computer are you zooming in closer?

I am not sure what you mean by:

putting a red line to designate work on a work order

A red line where exactly? And whty do you need to move it?

If you are using Word is the 'Snap to Grid' Setting checked on? (Click on your Drawing Object, Use the Drop Down on DRAW then choose GRID) Removing this check may allow you some finer placement of lines but ...

why not use Word's own UNDERLINE feature or the HIGHLIGHTER tool on the words themselves or just change the FONT COLOUR?

Thank you. The snap to grid was the problem. I was looking at an option for that but I couldnt find it anywhere for the life of me.

When I make a work order and pipes are going to be layed down I insert a GIS map onto the word document showing the general area of the work. Then I put a color coded line designating the general area of where the pipes should be layed. I need to move it because I dont want it to be going to the wrong house. Having this picture gives everyone a better picture of where everything is going to be done and it makes the job much easier for the inspectors, the plumbers, the construction workers and for the GIS mappers.

Thank you again.

Also is there any way to rotate a text box you make? I know you can flip the text but you can only do it in 90 degree incriments. Does anyone know any way to free rotate a text box?

You can't rotate a Text box ...but you can change the direction of the text within it (same thing really!)

If the Text Box Toolbar isn't visible click on View Toolbars and make it visible (you must have a text box selected on the page), then select the Change Text Direction Icon. It will rotate the text by 90 degrees on each click. This may give you what you need

cheers

I wish that was all I needed. I need to do it in different variations other than 90 degrees at a time. I guess I will stick with useing word art to do it. Thank you anyways though, now I won't waste anymore time trying to figure it out.
