WORD DOCUMENT AUTOMATIC FORMATTING

I have a document with listing to do on particular contracts on a particular date. What I wish to do is when the document first opens and a particular item is equal to, the days date, or before, they will be automatically formatted to flash.
Would I also need a table to accomplish this?
I would appreciate any advise on how to do this.
