Word crashed on startup 1

Everytime one of my users tries to start Word a GPF fault appears and Word crashes.

I have tried a repair of office, I have removed office a and reinstalled. I have even reapplied the latest service pack.

On further investigation in Event Viewer there appears to be an error with event id 1004 each time this occurs but it is fague.

Any ideas, I am stumped! I dont want to have to reinstall the whole machine if I dont have to!

Stressed - Do they get the Word "title" screen and then freeze? I have had this happen on a series of WIN98 machines and went through the same procedures as you. Unfortunately, I have resorted to wiping the machines off and starting fresh each time....

Find the file Normal.dot on your computer and either rename it, or delete it. When you start Word again, it will create a new Normal.dot file.
