This fileserver used to be an NT4 BDC. It has a separate data parttion that's a hardware RAID. I took out the OS drive, deleted the machine's account, put in a new drive and installed W2k Server on it. It picked up the data partition with all the data in it (it was an NTFS4 partition), and All I had to do was re-create the shares. However, after a couple of days I got an Event ID 2022. Accosding to M$, this problem is hard to trace. The server is heavily used, and did not have a lot of free space on it. It was also heavily fragmented. I tweaked the registry according to the Q articles, and I no longer get Event ID 2022, but whenever a user opens more than 1 Word doc or Excel file, and they tries to close the file or save it, it either takes forever or crashes the application. I know for a fact it's not a network issue (the server is accessed by 10 people at the time at most). Also, the defrag can't process certain files. Could this be some weird NTFS 4 to Win2K issue? I ran chkdsk a couple of times. Also ran DiskKeeper, and it's having issues with the same files. Any thoughts or ideas?
