Hey guys,

Here's the issue:

When running Word 2003, it won't open any word documents (gives the message that the document is not available).
When closing Word 2003, I'm always prompted regarding Normal.dot.

The system's processor, Ram, and HD are all fine. It is an upgrade of Windows XP Pro from Windows 98 SE. Norton Antivirus was installed on the machine, but is not currently running or enabled.

Any thoughts on what could be the problem?

Thanks!

I did.

"The file <filename> is not available."

That's all I get when you try and open a Word document.

And when you close, it just asks me to save the normal.dot because it was modified.

Thats the frustrating thing: there is no "error" message. Word doesn't think something is wrong, it just isn't working the way its supposed to.

Thanks for the response.

What is NAV?

I've seen that kb article as well, and its not a Norton thing. Its disabled and is still occurring
