We recently upgraded to Microsoft Office 2003. Some users have reported problems with word documents where text compresses or squeezes into a small area. One user had a paragraph squeeze into the size of a single character. I had her shut down and reopen and it opened fine. When they opened it later it was fine.

Another user had been modifying another document. The paragraph condensed to one line of text. She saved it and it opened compressed. She closed it and again opened it and everything was fine. At the time she was viewing it in normal view. When she changed it to web view it displayed normally. When she changed it back it corrupted again.

Different people in different departments are hiving this problem. But not everyone. Yet.

Any suggestions?

Have you got Text Boxes? That might explain it.

Also check Style, if 'Normal' has been set to something odd that could be the cause.

Have you got virus protection? It sounds like the sort of 'humour' that some virus-writers favour.

This is a printer driver issue. Make sure that you have the latest driver for your printers and that the workstations can see the printer correctly all the time.

The temporary solution is to close Word and restart it to reestablish the printer connection.

We havent had a problem with printers todate. The different departments use different printers. This issue hasnt come up until we upgraded to Office 2003. We are using AntiVirus. Neither of the documents I looked at used text boxes. I'm not sure about the style but our users arent that advanced.

It's still a Printer issue.
