Okay,

I have a word document (.doc), I have also tried this as .dot. The document has a 5 lines on top that need to be filled in, and then a table for other information. The info in the tables is being added to constantly.

Here is what I need to do. When a Row is inserted in the table that causes a new page, I need everything to stay exactly where it is, create a new page with the exact same 5 lines on top, and all table information to be shifted down to the table on the second page, or third or 20th, wherever they are.

Is this possible?

Why not put the top table in the header of the document? Sometimes easy is good...

Tom

Born once die twice; born twice die once.

Because it has fields that need to be filled in.

Soooo...If I am tracking with you correctly, after the user fills in the first 5 fields of information and then enters sufficient information to cause a page break, you would like to:

1. Leave rows 1 - 5 in place
2. Push all table rows from 6 forward to the next page.
3. Make a verbatim copy of rows 1 - 5 on the top of the next page.

If I have understood you correctly, this will give you rows 1 - 5 on the first page [!]and no other data[/!] until the top of page 2. Is this what you mean?

Or did you mean:
1. Leave rows 1 - page break in place.
2. Push all other data to the next page.
3. Make a copy of rows 1 - 5 to act as a "header" for the new page

I don't mean to be wooden-headed; I just need some clarification.

Tom

Born once die twice; born twice die once.

Youre not being wooden headed at all, Im just not being very clear.

One page, two tables - T1 Rows 1 through 5, T2 - Header Row and enough rows to take up rest of page.

Here's what should happen when a user inserts a new row in T2:

Page 2 becomes visible with T1 in the top section and T2 in the second section, and any rows in T2 that were pushed off of page 1, should now be at the top of the new T2 on page 2, which should have the rest of page 2 exactly like the first T2.

Clear as mud?

If you just have one table then you can designate all the stuff to repeat as heading rows. Is there any reason you can't do this?

Enjoy,
Tony

Okay, first I have no idea how to designate to repeat as heading rows without placing in the header.

Second this would push the overflow from T2 into the top of T1 if they are all on one table right?

As a simple example to see how it works .. create a table with a few rows and put some random text in the first three or four rows; select the first two or three rows and then select Table > Heading Rows Repeat from the Menu; finally add some text in later rows and/or add some extra rows to make the table flow onto a second page.

The heading rows can contain anything you like and need not have the same layout or number of cells etc. so it is fairly flexible.

Enjoy,
Tony
