Word 2000 won't start

I've already renamed normal.dot and checked the office startup folder to no avail.

I have two identical Compaq P4's running XP professional and Peachtree 2006 was installed on both. Afterwards Word only gets to the spash screen. Word will start in Windows Safe mode or when started in safe mode using the /A (I think) switch. What am I missing?

If it starts with the /a switch (which is safe mode), it indicates a corrupt normal.dot, a badly written add-in template (in Word or Office Startup) or a COM add-in. As this happened as a consequence of installing Peachtree, it would strongly suggest that Peachtree has installed some bad into Word or Office.

I suggest that you visit Peachtree and get their support. If it has happened to you, it is bound to have happened to other pachtree users too.
