Hi, I'm using Word 2000. I would like to create a table of contents with links. Does anybody know how to make it so that the user will click on a link and word will go to the appropriate locaiton?
I would also like to have Topics and sub topics in a parent child relationship. If somebody could direct me to an article on this type of thing I would greatly appreciate it.
vestax22,
To hyperlink within MSword...
You have to 'Bookmark' the places where you want to hyperlink to (Place your cursor on the word you want to bookmark, then go insert bookmark, and name it a unique name), then when you create your hyperlink, choose 'Bookmark' for the destination and pick the bookmark (unique name)that you want to point to.

I noticed the bookmark and hyperlink works great but if I change the posiiton of the bookmarked text the hyperlink will link to the old bookmarked text. Is there a way to make this more dynamic? So that when you change the location of the bookmarked text well the bookmark will change its position automatically??
vestax22,
I think, unfortunately, there's no easy fix.
Workaround, you have to edit the bookmark-> after the word gets moved, the highlight the word again and insert bookmark, then pick the same bookmark again from the list.
Maybe someone knows another fix...

vestax22,
Test this, when creating the bookmarks, name them consecutively.
ie.
aaa1
aaa2
aaa3
aaa4
ect....
I tested this on wd2000 and it seems to work fine. I moved the text, replaced the text and it seemed to follow the right hyperlink.
Play around with it and let us know.
